These Wool Polishing Balls
make shining billet wheels and diamond plate a breeze!
Faster than a speeding applicator. More
powerful than a Microfiber pad. Able to polish large wheels in just minutes.
It's the new Wool Polishing Balls from Lake Country Mfg! These balls
allow you to polish and shine surfaces and angles that regular wool pads can not
reach.
Made of 100%, 4-ply, twisted wool woven
into a tough rubber core, these polishing balls will not fall apart under
demanding usage like competitive products. Designed for polishing billet
aluminum wheels (without a clear coat) to a brilliant shine, these balls can
also be used on gel coats, fiberglass and other composite materials. A carbon
steel hex shaft prevents slippage and is compatible with standard quick connect
systems.
| For most polishing applications,
we prefer using these balls with a cordless drill keeping the rpm around
1000. Two sizes are
available.
The 3 inch Wool Polishing Ball is
my favorite for polishing billet wheels and hard-to-reach areas on personal
watercraft and ATV's.
The 5 inch Wool Polishing Ball is
best on larger surfaces such as diamond plate and for removing transom
exhaust stains on gel coat. |

| Polishing billet wheels:
On most billet wheels with mild
oxidation and white stains,
BLACKFIRE Fine Cut Aluminum Polish and the 3-inch Wool Ball will
restore a bright chrome-like shine in just minutes. |
 |
- Wipe a very thin coat of Fine Cut Aluminum Polish
on the wheel using a dry cloth or applicator pad.
- Attach the 3-inch Wool Ball to your cordless drill
and set the speed on "high" or as near as possible to 1000 rpm.
- Go over the wheel several times until all the
polish has turned black. The balls will "lint". This is normal. The balls
will also become caked with black residues. At some point, the balls will
become so dirty that they will no longer polish effectively. Having a
second ball will allow you to continue polishing rather than stopping and
cleaning the ball.
- After polishing, wipe off black residues on the
wheel with a dry Microfiber cloth. Inspect the surface. If it has a
chrome-like finish, continue to the next wheel.
If spotting, staining or surface
irregularities are still visible, repeat the polishing procedure.
Detailing Tip: The
first time I polished a wheel I used too much polish and caked the ball with
residues after polishing two wheels. The trick is to apply a very thin coat
of polish on the wheel. You should be able to polish all four wheels before
cleaning the ball. If you detail for a living, I strongly recommend you
invest in two balls. This way you can always complete a job if you run into
a really difficult wheel and/or you'll have a spare ball should you need to
spot compound a stain with Heavy Cut Aluminum Polish.
Cleaning Wool Polishing Balls
Fill a bucket with about two (2)
inches of water. Add a full packet of Snappy Clean Pad Cleaner. (As an
alternative, you can add an ounce of Micro Restore Microfiber Cleaner)
Insert the ball on your cordless drill in the bucket, set the speed to
"high" and work the ball over the bottom of the bucket and around the sides
of the bucket. DO NOT attempt this with an electric (plug-in) drill! Rinse
ball with fresh water, hand squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry.
Balls can be washed and reused over and over.
